Rider EquiBelt Lumbar Back Support

4DflexiSPORT combines medical and rider expertise in this specially designed for riders unisex belt. As well as improving your riding position the Rider EquiBelt can help with existing back pain and potentially prevent future painful bouts.

Why Choose EquiBelt?
  • Stays in place when legs are raised up in the riding position.
  • Integrated high-tensile plastic stays (not metal) gently flex with rider movement.
  • A extra stay has been added at either side to counter the tendency of collapsing the hip inwards when riding a circle.
  • Extra belt depth holds the tummy in.
  • Wide elastic side pulls contour the hips providing pelvic stability and effective lower back support.
  • Overheating is kept to a minimum thanks to the use of our unique airflow fabrics, exclusive to the 4DflexiSPORT brand.
  • Our engineered highly breathable fabrics warm without the sweatiness of other similar belts.
  • Approved by the International Sports Council for use during competitions.

Our Rider EquiBelts are quality made in Great Britain.

How Rider EquiBelt Works

Ten years collaboration with the Harley Street Spine Clinic and riding professionals has delivered this highly effective lumbar support and a design shaped for horse riders.

Rider EquiBelt obeys the medical principals of how all belts of this nature work, which is, pulling the tummy in, and creating circumferential intra-abdominal pressure, pushing [your insides] against the lower back whilst also supporting your back on the outside.

A light slimline fit, specially cut-away to accommodate rider position, contours the waist and pelvis like a second skin. Our unique 4DflexiSPORT non-sweat technical fabrics warm muscles without sweatiness, keeping them supple and free from painful spasm.

Bringing you ultimate comfort and enhancing performance and pleasure.

Specially designed for horse riders

Extra-deep with sculpted design
A sculpted design prevents the belt from riding-up when in a riding position. Depth at the front holds the tummy in creating circumferential intra-abdominal pressure for support at the lower spine both internally and externally,
resulting in a more upright position and a stronger core.

Side stays offer extra reinforcement
Stays at either side discourage the tendency for some riders to collapse their hip inwards when riding a circle.

Easy machine washable and fast drying
Made from 100% Polyester and machine washable at 30 or 40 degrees. Dries quickly and comes up like new everytime.

Extra-wide tension control hip-pulls
Easy side-pull adjustment allows you to control the level of tension and support.

Benefits

Position

Provides a sense of position in the saddle through biofeedback. Encourages engagement of core muscles and strengthens rider posture and position in the saddle.

Materials

Our woven Polyester fabrics offer unique non-sweat comfort whilst delivering powerful, effective support.

Since Polyester is commonly used in clothing your Rider EquiBelt can therefore be worn safely on skin and is unlikely to cause irritation. And being low profile, fits neatly under a back protector or a fitted jacket, and if preferred, over clothing. Remember, when wearing garments underneath, they may cause the EquiBelt to slide up, so tuck in well before putting your EquiBelt on. Importantly, if wearing on top of clothes include them when measuring.

Plastic stays makes the EquiBelt compliant with the International Sports Council, allowing it to be worn in competitions..

Pain

Research confirms that fear of moving during painful bouts prevents activity. Wearing the EquiBelt serves to encourage movement in the correct way preventing unwanted over-twisting and shearing in the lower back.

It has been shown to alleviate and prevent sciatic nerve pain episodes and can be worn after a back injury as part as a rehabilitation programme.

The science

The Rider EquiBelt covers from L1 to L5 of the lumbar spine. Extra depth at the front holds the tummy in, thereby creating circumferential intra-abdominal pressure at the lower spine area, internally, as well as supporting on the outside.

Both sacroiliac joints and the pubic symphysis joint are firmly supported delivering improved pelvic stability.

Airflow warmth is generated encouraging blood and nerve flow through the muscles avoiding spasming and relieving back pain, and stiffness.

Your Rider EquiBelt can be worn on and off the horse, and on an on and off basis. It can also be worn in bed.
CAUTION: In common with all supportive belts worn around the abdomen, loosen off when sitting and when eating. When wearing in bed it must not be overly tight.

Always seek medical advice for severe or persistent back pain.and also in bed.

Suitable for,

Bursitis

Provided your Bursitis is not due to infection then supporting the groin and surrounding muscles, using the EquiBelt would relieve the ache and help prevent further damage to the Bursa. It is also more comfortable to sleep with a pillow between your knees. Aligning the body can both prevent and treat this condition.

Sacroilitis

Sacroiliitis causes pain at the base of the spine and often more on one side than the other. The support needed is around the hips and thanks to the contouring fit of the EquiBelt it extends down over this area. It's shaped design means that it is not pushed up by upper leg action when riding.

Fibromyalgia - base of spine, pelvis and hip

The EquiBelt provides pain relief in the region it covers. Since Fibromyalgia presents as a shooting pain in various areas of the body it may not be effective for pain in the upper body.

Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolisthesis is a condition where spinal vertebrae slip forward over one another. This is often caused when the crack of a pars fracture (spondylolysis) affects both sides of connection between the lamina and pedicles. Support should be used carefully without over-straightening as this may cause the disc to be squeezed putting pressure on the nerve. Find a comfortable position and use the EquiBelt to maintain that position. Ensure the tension of the belt is enough to stabilise the pelvis but not drastically affect posture. This will go a long way to preventing muscle spasm. The important thing is not to try to improve posture but to maintain it.

Really Comfortable

This is really comfortable, especially as it doesn't contain Neoprene. It has double adjustability and plastic stays which are very supportive and don't dig in. I bend and lift regularly and this has really helped. The company is great too.

FAQ's

  1. Has EquiBelt been assessed by Orthopaedics and physios?
As with all of our products, the belt has been designed in conjunction with The Harley Street Spine Clinic, Orthopaedic surgeon Mr Ian Bayley and a team of independent physiotherapists as well as professional riders.
  2. Will EquiBelt work for me?
We're all familiar with the effects that sudden explosive movement can have. And with horse riding there's always plenty of heavy lifting work to be done.

Wearing the Rider EquiBelt when lifting and twisting is benificial whether you have back issues or not. For specific ailments wearing a belt will go a long way to relieving pain and providing greater independence.

  3. What size EquiBelt will I need?
The EquiBelt is true to UK sizing. If you are borderline between sizes, go bigger and remember if you intend wearing your belt on top of clothes take this into account too.
  4. Is EquiBelt easy to fit?
EquiBelt is a straightforward wraparound fit with a hook and loop closure with dual wid elastic hip-pulls. Easier than putting on a trouser belt. Take a look at the diagram and see for yourself.

The EquiBelt can be worn both on and off the horse and is ideally shaped for sitting whilst driving the car, lorry, motorbike. Use for stable work and whenever you know you'll be bending lifting and carrying. As soon as you feel the slightest twinge start wearing the belt until it eases. Adopting this policy could help you avoid a full-blown sore back episode.

All orders are dispatched frree of charge straightaway on a tracked 24hr service through Royal Mail and takes approximately 2 working days to arrive, although with current industrial action, we cannot guarantee this.
